Weapons cannot lead to 'lasting peace', says Pope

Pope Leo XIV on Monday called global peace a 'true moral imperative' and said weapons can only impose a 'temporary silence', not a lasting peace. In a speech to the Spanish parliament, he advocated for 'patient dialogue' over rearmament in Europe and beyond. The Pope is visiting Spain June 6-12 with stops in Madrid, Barcelona, and the Canary Islands.
