Why Africans don’t fly more within Africa – Embraer

A report by Embraer highlights that restrictive air service agreements, low flight frequencies, and mismatched plane capacity hinder intra-African air travel. Despite accounting for 18 percent of the global population, Africa only represents 2.2 percent of air passenger traffic. The report notes that up to 22 percent of intra-African travelers transit outside the continent, increasing both costs and travel time.
