Gabon: Search Continues After Oil Rig Sinks

Searches continued off Mayumba on Monday, October 26, two days after the Borr Drilling platform Prospector 5 sank. Of the 115 people on board, 110 were rescued; BW Energy confirmed one death and four people missing, while Gabonese authorities reported five missing. The platform reportedly lost stability after a “punch-through” during the preloading of its legs. Gabon’s Ministry of Petroleum and Gas activated a crisis unit and asked the navy to reinforce the search, while reporting no harmful substance spill.
