World Cup 2026: Mexico dominates South Africa to launch its World Cup

Mexico defeated South Africa 2-0 in the opening match of the 2026 World Cup at the Azteca Stadium. Julián Quiñones scored the first goal in the 9th minute. South Africa finished with nine men after red cards to Yaya Sithole and Themba Zwane. Raúl Jiménez headed the second Mexican goal in the 67th minute.
