Ebola: Tshopo Provincial Assembly suspends activities for 21 days

As Ebola spreads in Tshopo province, the provincial assembly has suspended its ordinary activities for 21 days starting Friday, November 6, 2026. The decision, signed by Assembly President Mateus Kanga, aims to curb transmission within the institution; an unofficial source said a provincial lawmaker’s family member had tested positive. Special investigative commissions and the Economic and Financial Commission may continue their fieldwork, and essential administrative services will remain in operation. Tshopo has recorded 95 confirmed cases and 44 recoveries, with Makiso health zone in Kisangani the epicenter at 33 confirmed cases.
