The Democratic Republic of the Congo has approximately 6.47 million internally displaced persons, ranking it fifth in the world. The humanitarian situation has worsened, particularly in the East, where clashes involving the M23 have displaced over 700,000 people between January and February 2025. If violence continues, the UNHCR estimates that there could be up to 9 million displaced persons by the end of 2026.
