AES: UN Officials Soon on Mission to Assess Local Realities

UN officials, including Tom Fletcher and Vanessa Frazier, will soon visit Burkina Faso to better understand local realities and align their programs. Burkinabè Foreign Minister Karamoko Jean-Marie Traoré highlighted a gap between on-the-ground situations and UN reports, especially regarding children. These visits follow tensions between the AES countries—Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger—and the UN, which has contested certain reports and closed the human rights office in Burkina Faso. During the same week in New York, the AES held an event to present its perspective on Sahel issues and address what it sees as misleading narratives.
