UN: Rwanda Insists on Verification of Implementation of Agreements to Restore Peace in Eastern DRC

During a UN Security Council meeting on September 29, 2026, Rwanda's representative, Martin K. Ngoga, reaffirmed his country's commitment to diplomatic processes for peace in eastern DRC. He emphasized the importance of effectively implementing agreements between Kigali and Kinshasa and noted that the security crisis in the region has been on the agenda for nearly thirty years. Rwanda also proposed establishing a verification mechanism to ensure compliance with the agreements.
