Treasury Delays PAYE Relief Bill Again, Sets October Timeline

Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi announced that the review process for the Pay As You Earn (PAYE) tax relief for Kenyans earning Ksh30,000 per month will begin in October 2026. Although Treasury had planned to submit a Bill to Parliament by the end of September, Mbadi stated that public participation must first take place. The proposed changes could reduce PAYE deductions for over 3.4 million salaried workers if approved by Parliament.
