South Kivu: Gunfire reported in Uvira and surrounding areas since morning, at least one student killed

The security situation in Uvira has been tense since this morning, with gunfire reported starting at 5:00 AM in the outskirts and spreading to neighborhoods. A fourth-grade student from EP Umoja in Kamongola was shot dead in Kalundu. Several schools have sent students home, and transport between Bukavu and Uvira has been suspended due to the anger of the wazalendo following the arrest of one of their members by the army.
