US overtakes Uganda as Kenya’s top export market

Kenya’s exports to the US surpassed those to Uganda in the five months to July 2026, driven by resumed orders following the restored preferential market access under the African Growth and Opportunity Act (Agoa). The increase was also fueled by buyers rushing to maximize duty-free benefits before the initial expiry of the trade pact. This shift has strengthened Kenya’s position as a key export partner, overtaking Uganda.
