Benin: Japan grants an additional 10.8 billion FCFA for Vêdoko interchange – La Nouvelle Tribune

Japan has granted an additional 10.8 billion FCFA to Benin for the second phase of the Vêdoko interchange construction in Cotonou, bringing the total project funding to 26.228 billion FCFA. The agreement was signed on October 9, 2026, with Japanese ambassador Hideki Uezono, JICA representative Kazunao Shibata, and Minister George Alé present. The funds will finance an overpass in the East-West direction, complementing ongoing work on the first phase, to improve traffic flow at the busy Vêdoko intersection.
