Carrick and Fernandes hold peace talks after Bournemouth omission

Bruno Fernandes and Michael Carrick held private talks at Manchester United’s training ground on Tuesday to ease tensions before Saturday’s match against Chelsea. The meeting followed United’s 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth, in which captain Fernandes was an unused substitute after reportedly criticising Carrick’s tactics following a 4-1 loss to Como. Carrick remains in charge despite United sitting 16th with one win in eight league matches, while the club is reportedly considering Eddie Howe and Julian Nagelsmann as possible replacements. Kobbie Mainoo returned to training on Wednesday after missing a fortnight with an injury.
