NAFDAC destroys N8bn worth of fake and banned products in North-Central Nigeria

NAFDAC seized and destroyed fake, adulterated, expired and banned products worth more than ₦8 billion across North-Central Nigeria. Director-General Mojisola Adeyeye, represented in Lafia by Joseph Edor, said most of the products were banned alcoholic beverages sold in sachets or containers smaller than 200 millilitres. The agency said the restriction aims to curb alcohol abuse among young people and children, which can harm brain development and vital organs. The seizures also included expired and counterfeit medicines, adulterated food and cosmetics, and NAFDAC warned that offenders would face legal action.

Parliament is due to consider the bill under an emergency procedure after years of institutional discussions, including with the Holy See.
