Spain 3rd, China 4th: ranking of countries with the highest meat consumption

A Statista survey published on May 29, 2026, covering 32 countries, found that 91% of respondents consume meat. Argentina tops the ranking with 97%, followed by South Korea (96%), Spain (95%), China and Australia (both 93%). Plant-based substitutes remain rare, with only 22% of regular buyers in Vietnam, the highest rate. Global meat production reached 373 million tons in 2024.
