Nigerian govt threatens to shut Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, gives reason

The Federal Government of Nigeria has warned that it will close the Lagos section of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway within two weeks if road users do not comply with safety measures. This decision was announced by the Federal Controller of Works in Lagos, Olufemi Dare, following persistent safety breaches and illegal activities. The highway is still under construction and comprises two sections totaling about 103 km, with 20 major bridges, several of which are still under construction.
