Zamfara Assembly suspends two LG chairmen over alleged misappropriation

The Zamfara State House of Assembly has suspended Mannir Mu’azu Haidara and Umar A. Faru, chairmen of the Kaura Namoda and Bukkuyum local government councils, respectively, over alleged financial misappropriation. Their suspension followed a report presented by the House Committee on Local Government, delivered by Deputy Speaker Adamu Aliyu Gumm. The two officials failed to honor invitations to explain the expenditure of allocated funds, which was deemed a serious breach. The suspension takes immediate effect and will remain until the conclusion of an ongoing investigation into the financial activities of the state's local councils.
