FIFA has suspended Egypt coach Hossam Hassan for three matches and forward Mostafa Zico for five after Egypt’s 3-2 World Cup defeat to Argentina. Ibrahim Hassan, the team director and Hossam’s twin brother, also received a three-match suspension. Hossam was sanctioned for blaming refereeing errors for Egypt’s last-16 elimination, while Zico was punished for insulting the referee in a post-match interview. The Egyptian Football Association requested FIFA’s detailed grounds for the sanctions as it considers its legal options and whether to appeal.
