Zimbabwe elected to UN Security Council for 2027-2028

Zimbabwe was elected Wednesday by the United Nations General Assembly as a non-permanent member of the Security Council for 2027-2028. It will take its seat on January 1, 2027. Five new members were chosen, including Austria, Kyrgyzstan, Portugal, Trinidad and Tobago. Trinidad and Tobago was elected over Guyana for the Latin American and Caribbean group.
