Zimbabwe shipped its first lithium sulfate cargo on Monday, marking a turning point for the country in mineral processing for battery production. This initiative follows a ban on raw lithium exports aimed at boosting local processing and creating jobs. The shipment comes from the Arcadia mine, operated by Zhejiang Huayou Cobalt, which can produce up to 50,000 tons of lithium sulfate per year, a first on the African continent.
