Zimbabwe: Government Declares ZIMSEC Mandatory for All Schools From 2027

Starting in 2027, all learners in Zimbabwe will be required to sit for the Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) exams, unifying national assessment for public schools, private colleges, and trust schools. Education Minister Torerayi Moyo stated that the reform aims to end a two-tier system and ensure every Zimbabwean child is assessed by the same standards. While Cambridge is not banned, schools wishing to offer it must justify their decision. The ministry also pledged to enhance security and digitize marking before 2027.
