In the Penha favela, a social initiative uses football as a tool for empowerment. Created in 2014, the program now serves nearly 100 children aged six and older. Last month, ten young participants represented Brazil at the Street Children's World Cup in Mexico, winning the tournament undefeated. João Victor Gonçalves, 18, said representing his country was something he never imagined.
