JOJ 2026: The survival guide to avoid spending a month in traffic jams

Dakar will implement an exceptional traffic plan starting October 17, with 166 measures to ease congestion ahead of the Youth Olympic Games from October 31 to November 13. The plan includes reserved lanes, pedestrian zones, one-way streets, and detours, impacting the habits of drivers, taxis, and public transport users. Four sectors are identified as critical during competitions, with alternative routes planned to maintain traffic flow and safety. Developed by the Ministry of Transport, the plan prioritizes collective transport and temporary measures, focusing on critical intersections.
