Kinshasa: RGPH-2 census teams generally well received by residents in N'Djili

The mapping operation for the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s second General Population and Housing Census (RGPH-2) has generally been welcomed in N'Djili, one of 24 Kinshasa communes taking part. Census mapping teams will work for a month to collect data for the census planned for 2027, 42 years after the country’s last general census. In the Équateur neighborhood, local office secretary Cyprien Kwasi Makelele says local guides are accompanying teams and informing residents. Brigade chief Kilima Muaya Serges says discussions are clearing up misunderstandings, including by explaining that the operation is free, although security concerns remain in some neighborhoods.
