Haiti: Gangs Target Foreign Troops in New Force

Haitian gangs attacked an armored vehicle in Croix-des-Bouquets on Sunday as four Salvadoran aviation technicians were returning to their camp. El Salvador’s armed forces said explosives were used and the vehicle was set on fire; the four soldiers are missing. Jack Christofides, special representative of the Gang Suppression Force (GSF), said hostile incidents against the force had risen from two to fifteen in a month. He said the circumstances of the attack and its implications for force protection and operational security were still being assessed.
