14-year-old girl shot as gunmen attack farmers in Nasarawa

Amina Ya’u, 14, was shot on November 5 at about 6:30 a.m. in Majelisa, a village on the border of Nasarawa and Plateau states. Preliminary findings indicate that suspected armed herders opened fire on farmers after a disagreement over grazing activities, then fled before troops from Operation Enduring Peace arrived. The troops took the girl to General Hospital in Lafia and increased patrols in the area. Engagements with Fulani leaders are ongoing to help identify and locate the suspects.
