2027: ADC alleges plot to shift January 16 election, warns Tinubu

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) Presidential Campaign Council says it received information about a plan to summon Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) chairman Joash Amupitan to the Presidential Villa and press him to change the January 16 presidential election timetable. Through strategic communications director Phrank Shaibu, the council urged Bola Tinubu to abandon any effort to delay the vote and called on Amupitan to make any such approach public. The ADC says Nigerians must be able to judge the government at the ballot box and cites the NCDC director-general’s position that there is currently no reason to postpone the election because of Ebola. It wants any proposed change published, supported by health evidence and open to public scrutiny.
