2027: NDC campaign director and others have neglected their duties to focus on disputes, says OK Movement

The Obi-Kwankwaso (OK) Movement in the UK, through coordinator Adebayor Brown, accused the Obidient Movement coordinator and the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) campaign council director-general of focusing on political disputes instead of their duties. Brown urged them to mobilise supporters, strengthen political structures and prepare seriously for the 2027 general elections. He challenged repeated claims that Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso had distanced themselves from the OK Movement, saying any position on the matter should be based on verifiable communication. Brown called on the OK and Obidient movements and the NDC to end divisive rhetoric and work together for credible elections.

2027: Akume’s allies reject Alia’s campaign council as Benue power struggle deepens

The Benue Strategic Alliance for Tinubu 2027, a group associated with Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, rejected the roughly 500-member campaign council announced by APC state organising secretary James Ornguga. The group said its conveners, including Jack Tilley-Gyado and Simon Shango, and its candidates for the national and state assemblies were listed without authorisation. It also objected to Governor Hyacinth Alia chairing the council while Akume was listed only as a member, and accused Alia’s administration of sidelining established party structures since the 2023 elections. The alliance said it remains committed to mobilising support for Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election and for APC candidates recognised by Akume.

The Patriotic Nigeria Youth Forum (PNYF) passed a vote of confidence in NSCDC Commandant-General Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, warning that his removal could hinder reforms and the protection of critical infrastructure. At the forum’s 2026 National Youth Day celebration, coordinator Olamide Odumosu urged critics, including Deji Adeyanju, to support their claims with verifiable evidence and pursue constructive engagement. The forum credited Audi with improvements in professionalism and operational capacity, including protecting oil and gas facilities, electricity installations and telecommunications infrastructure. It also urged young Nigerians to support security agencies and endorsed President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
