Ebola: ACAJ calls for audit over opaque management of allocated funds

The Association for Access to Justice (ACAJ) is asking the General Inspectorate of Finance (IGF) to audit funds allocated to the fight against Ebola in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Health Minister Samuel Roger Kamba said the funds were paid directly to international implementing partners and that the government had traced only 220 million dollars. Serigne Fallou Seck, a 27-year-old medical intern shot at his home in Fith-Mith, Guédiawaye, has undergone successful surgery and is no longer in a life-threatening condition. Dr. Gory Gning, president of Senegal’s Association of Hospital Interns and Former Interns, said the bullet has not yet been removed from Seck’s abdomen. This is delaying a forensic ballistic examination ordered by the Pikine-Guédiawaye prosecutor’s office to establish where the shot came from. According to reports, Seck was hit as he tried to close his kitchen window and take shelter from violence linked to the Navétanes.
