Guinea-Bissau: Dakar Calls for De-escalation of Political Climate

Senegal has called on Guinea-Bissau's transitional authorities to lift restrictions on political and civil activities after the electoral commission announced that conditions were not met to hold the presidential and legislative elections scheduled for December. Dakar, mediating on behalf of ECOWAS, is closely monitoring the situation and urges the removal of restrictions to foster trust and ensure credible elections. The national electoral commission stated that technical conditions were not in place to organize the elections at this time.
