United States: Donald Trump faces a decisive test in the midterm elections

Polling stations are opening across the United States for the midterm elections, the first nationwide vote since the November 2024 presidential election; more than 57 million Americans have already voted early, according to CBS News. Voters are choosing all 435 members of the House of Representatives and 35 senators, while gubernatorial elections are taking place in 36 states. Republicans currently hold narrow majorities in both chambers, and Democrats need at least 218 House seats and 51 Senate seats to take control. As Donald Trump reaches the midpoint of his second term, the results could shape his ability to pass legislation and pursue his agenda through January 2029.

It also objected to Governor Hyacinth Alia chairing the council while Akume was listed only as a member, and accused Alia’s administration of sidelining established party structures since the 2023 elections. The alliance said it remains committed to mobilising support for Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election and for APC candidates recognised by Akume.

The forum credited Audi with improvements in professionalism and operational capacity, including protecting oil and gas facilities, electricity installations and telecommunications infrastructure. It also urged young Nigerians to support security agencies and endorsed President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
