Assistant Inspector-General of Police Bassey Ewah urged residents of Osun and Oyo states not to collect fuel from overturned or accidented tankers. The warning followed a tanker fire on September 17, 2026, in the Feesu area along the Iwo–Osogbo Express Road. Iwo police secured the scene and alerted the Fire Service; Ewah praised their response and warned that approaching tankers can lead to fires, explosions, serious injuries and deaths. He also cited a fatal tanker-related incident in Benin City, Edo State, and urged the public to stay away from spilled fuel.
