Senegal to recruit 418 prison administration staff in 2026

Senegal’s government has authorized the recruitment of 418 staff for the Prison Administration in 2026, Justice Minister Me Moussa Sarr announced. The positions include two inspectors, six controllers, ten administrative staff and 400 prison officers, intended to ease staff workloads and improve security and care for detainees. At a regional conference attended by participants from Germany, Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria, Sarr said reintegration should be prepared from the start of incarceration. He cited prison-based vocational and work initiatives, including bakeries, a dairy production unit, an industrial training center, a mechanical garage and sewing workshops.
