Twenty contacts linked to Kenya’s first imported case of Bundibugyo virus disease were released from quarantine on October 26 after 21 days without symptoms. The remaining 98 contacts are still quarantined; eight contacts tested positive and were transferred to Nairobi’s Ebola treatment centre. Kenya has recorded nine confirmed cases and two deaths, all connected to one group, with no evidence of community transmission. Health Director General Patrick Amoth urged communities to welcome those released, while the WHO continues to support the response.
