Pope restores Vatican salaries cut during Covid

Pope Leo XIV has restored the salaries of cardinals and senior Vatican officials to pre-Covid levels, reversing pay cuts introduced by his predecessor Francis. The cuts, deemed necessary to address financial challenges during the pandemic, have been lifted effective September 1, 2026. The Vatican bank's annual report also indicated financial improvement, reporting a net profit of 51 million euros.
