Mali: What the New Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Center Will Actually Do

Mali inaugurated the Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Center (CIAR-Mali) on September 21, 2026, in Kati, led by Assimi Goïta. This center, which began its activities in 2025, aims to train specialists and develop research in areas such as health, agriculture, and mining. Although CIAR-Mali has a budget of 3.3 billion CFA francs, no large-scale deployed AI system or robot has been reported yet. The facilities include buildings for teaching, research, and student accommodation.
