Use Certified Centres to Convert CNG Vehicles, Pi-CNG Says

Tosin Coker, chief operating officer of Nigeria’s Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas and Electric Vehicles, urged motorists to convert vehicles to CNG only at certified centres using approved equipment and following safety rules. Speaking at a media engagement in Kano, he said natural gas could reduce transport costs, strengthen energy security and support cleaner transport. Taofeek Balogun of the Decade of Gas Secretariat said proven reserves stood at 215.19 trillion cubic feet in January 2026, while average production had risen to about 7.5 billion cubic feet per day. He also reported $3.5 billion in committed investment across four gas projects, completion of the OB3 pipeline and roughly 95 per cent completion of the AKK pipeline.
