A civil police commander was assaulted and hospitalized after being struck in the head in Belfort, France, on October 2, 2026, during an intervention near Gustave-Courbet High School. A video showing the officer in water with a young person sparked controversy, with some online claiming it was an attempt to drown the youth, which Prosecutor Paul-Edouard Lallois denies.
