Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, urged staff in the South-East region to remain neutral and professional, warning that partisan or unethical conduct would not be tolerated. At a meeting in Enugu, he announced a rewards-and-sanctions mechanism and a special salary structure due to take effect on January 1, 2027, aimed at improving staff welfare and reducing inducements. INEC has supplied its Enugu office with 10 new pickup vans and is preparing other election materials, with staff training and retraining set to begin soon.
