Over 2 billion CFA francs for new sports facilities in Dakar ahead of the 2026 Youth Olympic Games

Five municipalities in the Dakar region—Keur Massar Nord, Keur Massar Sud, Sangalkam, Dalifort and Médina Gounass—are receiving new sports facilities funded with more than 2 billion CFA francs. Inaugurated Thursday in Keur Massar by Minister Moussa Bala Fofana as part of PROGEP 2, the facilities include six artificial-turf football pitches, two multipurpose courts and local fitness trails. The Municipal Development Agency is leading the project, which aims to bring sports closer to residents and encourage young people to take part in the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games. Authorities also intend the sites to serve as spaces for inclusion, community interaction and the development of Senegalese sporting talent.
