Ortom hits back at former envoy Tarzoor and defends his governance record

Former Benue State governor Samuel Ortom challenged Terhemen Tarzoor to account for his public-service record and accused him of attacking him since losing the 2015 governorship election. Ortom said Tarzoor misrepresented his remarks about Governor Hyacinth Alia and questioned his record as Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly and as Nigeria’s ambassador to Namibia. Defending his own administration, Ortom cited the 2017 law prohibiting open grazing, the establishment of the Benue State Livestock Guards and support for Community Volunteer Guards. He also pointed to attacks on farming communities and began listing his education achievements, including more than 1,000 primary schools.
