Nigerian newspapers review: Tinubu seeks $20.5bn and €1.04bn in foreign loans to fund projects

President Bola Tinubu has asked the Senate to approve supplementary external borrowing of $20.52 billion and €1.045 billion to fund infrastructure and development projects across Nigeria. The federal government and the Nigeria Labour Congress agreed on measures to support workers, including a ₦70,000 transport intervention and payment of 19 months of arrears owed to health workers. A committee recommended dismissals, administrative sanctions and prosecutions of NSCDC officers after 33 detainees died in custody in Minna, along with ₦1.4 billion in compensation. Newspapers also report Siminalayi Fubara’s comments on the Rainbow Coalition and Uba Sani’s pledge to support Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.
