Leasing: Financial institutions provide CFAF 9 billion to SMEs in the first half of 2026

Cameroonian financial institutions provided SMEs with CFAF 8.99 billion in new leasing finance in the first half of 2026, representing 65.1% of the CFAF 13.81 billion in new financing granted to these businesses. The figures are based on quarterly data from the Bank of Central African States (BEAC), whose latest lending-rate report was published on October 22, 2026. Leasing exceeded cash-flow loans, which totaled CFAF 2.86 billion, and medium-term loans, at CFAF 1.96 billion. Leasing finance accelerated sharply in the second quarter, after institutions reported CFAF 2.21 billion between January and March.
