DRC’s IGF aims to modernize public finance oversight through digital technology

The Democratic Republic of the Congo’s Inspectorate General of Finance (IGF) aims to strengthen public finance oversight through digital technology, data analysis and risk prevention. These priorities were discussed at a seminar in Kinshasa from October 21 to 22, focused on the 2026-2028 strategic plan and attended by university officials, researchers and experts. Inspector General Christophe Bitasimwa Bahii presented a reform intended to move beyond traditional compliance checks and examine public finance management systems to identify errors and irregularities. Participants also cited constraints including inadequate digital infrastructure, limited access to electricity, insufficient research funding and resistance to change, while stressing ethics and performance evaluation for public servants.
