Political Tensions in Delta: Injuries and Vehicle Damage as Another Obi-Kwankwaso Rally Comes Under Attack

Supporters of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) marching in Asaba on Saturday in support of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso were attacked by suspected thugs, leaving several people injured and campaign vehicles vandalised. Victor Ochei, the NDC’s Delta North senatorial candidate, accused the ruling APC and said more than 30 buses had been destroyed; the APC dismissed the allegation as baseless and unsupported by evidence. Organisers called on Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and security agencies to investigate and prosecute those responsible. The incident followed the disruption of a similar rally in Effurun.
