Abia Police to Activate X-Squad to Monitor Officers on Duty

Abia State Commissioner of Police Wilfred Afolabi said the command would activate its X-Squad to monitor officers at duty posts following residents’ complaints about alleged misconduct in Aba. At a meeting with community leaders and youths, he warned that both those who give bribes and those who receive them are culpable, and urged residents to report misconduct to the police. Residents reported alleged extortion before bail, profiling and arrests of youths by plainclothes officers, and harassment of drivers whose vehicles have factory-fitted tinted windows. Afolabi also advised car owners to use anti-theft devices and said no one should be treated as a criminal because of their appearance.
