Africa Cup of Nations may stay as a biennial event, says CAF chief Motsepe

CAF President Patrice Motsepe announced that the organization is reconsidering its decision to hold the Africa Cup of Nations every two years, despite previously stating it would switch to a four-year cycle from 2028. He emphasized that CAF does not take orders from FIFA or UEFA and defended the decision to align the tournament schedule with African interests. Motsepe, also a FIFA vice-president, responded to criticism that the schedule favors European preferences, reaffirming CAF's commitment to African priorities during a strategy conference in Cape Verde.
