After Kabila officially joins the rebellion, Félix Tshisekedi tells the Sacred Union the situation is “under control”

Félix Tshisekedi met with Sacred Union deputies and senators on Saturday to mobilize them ahead of a national dialogue, two weeks after Joseph Kabila took the lead of the Front for the Refoundation of the Nation, which emerged from the AFC/M23. The president said the situation was “under control,” urged lawmakers to reassure the public, and sharply criticized his predecessor and Paul Kagame. He said the dialogue was intended to restore a degree of normality, not keep him in power; according to a source present, he said he would stop in 2028 if lawmakers refused to change the Constitution. Next week, he is expected to appoint the dialogue’s leaders, with two African Union co-facilitators supporting the process.
