‘Before we vote, we want help’: Delft residents demand electricity

Residents of Ivoorhout Street in Delft South say they have faced electricity problems for months or even years ahead of the November 4 local elections. Isobel Klein, 56, says she has been without power for six months and has contacted councillors repeatedly without getting a resolution. Residents say they are spending limited incomes on candles, paraffin and gas, while an 86-year-old resident has been forced to cook over an open fire. They want officials to take action before asking for their votes.
