Aguocha denies selling rice donated to Abia constituents

Obi Aguocha, representative for the Ikwuano/Umuahia federal constituency, denies diverting and selling two truckloads of rice donated to constituents by President Bola Tinubu. Former Abia commissioner Charles Ogbonna accused him of selling the rice with the help of a relative by marriage; Aguocha says the relief supplies were distributed directly and transparently. He calls the allegations a smear campaign linked to his dispute with Ogbonna and political opponents as he seeks re-election in 2027. Aguocha says he will take legal action and urges constituents to remain calm.
